Title: Targeting copper in gliomas as therapeutic strategy
Dr Vittorio is a Project Leader at Children's Cancer Institute in the Tumour Biology and Targeting Program.
He joined the Institute and the UNSW Australian Centre for Nanomedicine in 2013 when awarded a highly competitive Vice Chancellor's Postdoc Research Fellowship to conduct research under the mentoring of Prof Maria Kavallaris at Children's Cancer Institute.
His research is focussed on the development of innovative strategies for the treatment of neuroblastoma and glioblastoma with nano-modified natural antioxidants. In 2014, he was awarded an Early Career Fellowship from Cancer Institute NSW to study the effect of metal ion nanoparticles functionalised with natural flavonoids for the treatment of glioblastoma.
Dr Vittorio is a reviewer for international journals such as Oncotarget, Nanomedicine UK, Nanomedicine NBM, Integrative Biology, Pharmaceutical Research and RSC Advances. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Nanomedicine & Biotherapeutic Discovery and is a member of the Program/Abstract Committee for the International NanoMedicine Conference. He is an active member of the American Association For Cancer Research and a conjoint lecturer at UNSW.
