The Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research – Enterprise & Engagement) together with the Sydney Early-Mid Career Academic Network (SEMCAN) is hosting an afternoon session covering engagement with external partners. This event is open for all Early-Mid Career Researchers (up to 15 years post-PhD, taking into account career breaks), and is particularly targeted to those interested in establishing and strengthening links with industry, government or community partners, and in preparing research funding applications with these partners (e.g. ARC Linkage or NHMRC Partnership Grants). The session will feature presentations by University of Sydney academics who have current externally funded research collaborations across a range of disciplines, followed by small group discussions about issues related to working with different types of partners.

Some of the researchers who have already agreed to serve as mentors to early-mid career researchers, and are recent recipients of prestigious grants such as ARC Linkages or NHMRC partnership projects, include:

Professor Daniela Traini, ARC Future Fellow, Respiratory Technology Group at the Woolcock Institute of Medical Research.
Professor Ben Eggleton, Director - The University of Sydney Nano Institute
Professor Robert Slonim- School of Economics
Professor Bruce Neal, Deputy Executive Director, The George Institute

Please describe briefly (maximum one paragraph) the topic of your research and what type of partner outside the University you are most interested in engaging with (government, community organisation, SME, large industrial organisation) and send it to [email protected] by Friday the 1st of June. Your input will help us to organise our event more efficiently.
