[Med-fac] Philanthropy Workshops
Location:Theatre 4 Westmead Education Conference Centre, Westmead Hospital
In recent years we have seen significant growth in philanthropic support for medicine and health, much of which is a direct result of a wish by patients to ‘give back’ and to recognise and honour clinicians for their excellent standard of care.
As we look for new ways to build on philanthropic income, I would like to strongly encourage those of you who have not previously had the opportunity to participate in a workshop on philanthropy designed for clinicians and academics in medicine. The purpose of the workshop is to help us to work with patients and carers who might be potential donor.
The workshop will be presented by an international expert from the USA, Joe Golding, Chair and CEO of the firm Advancement Resources, which conducts training internationally on major-gift fundraising for academic institutions. The workshop on Medical Philanthropy will help us to understand donor perspectives on giving, recognise situations in which patients themselves indicate an interest in supporting the advancement of healthcare, allow you to discover your own roles in the philanthropy process, and become familiar with the support available from the University’s Development Office. Participants will explore patient and family experiences in the healthcare environment and learn critical skills that can lead to significant philanthropic contributions.
Joe Golding has previously conducted similar workshops for Sydney Medical School, with excellent feedback.
The workshop will be available on two separate dates and there are still some places available at both sites (at Westmead and three on Camperdown campus).
Refreshments will be provided at both sessions.
Please let Ria Deamer know as soon as possible if you are interested in any attending either of these sessions.
