Prof David Gandara: Evolution of Immunotherapy in advanced NSCLC

The topic of Professor David Gandara’s presentation will be: “Evolution of Immunotherapy in advanced NSCLC” which will cover the new data for treatments in lung cancer including:
• The evolution of the treatment landscape in lung cancer including 1st line NSCLC
• Evolution in biomarker testing in lung cancer
• Evolution of treatment decision making in lung cancer
David Gandara is Professor of Medicine at the University of California and Director of the Thoracic Oncology Program at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Centre (UCDCCC). Professor Gandara’s research interests focus on developmental therapeutics of new anti-cancer agents as well as preclinical modeling and clinical research in lung cancer. He is the principal investigator on an Early Therapeutics award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), where he leads an interdisciplinary team of clinical oncologists, pharmacologists, molecular biologists and statisticians in developing new anti-cancer agents in a variety of novel drug classes. He also leads a multi-specialty team in the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), an NCI-funded national clinical research organization, in studies related to improving therapies for lung cancer and developing predictive biomarkers of therapeutic efficacy. He serves as Clinical Director for the joint Jackson Laboratory-UCDCCC patient-derived xenotransplant program in lung cancer with the goal to speed the transition to personalized cancer therapy. He was past chair of the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG) Lung Committee, prior secretary-treasurer of ASCO and served as president of the International Association of the Study of Lung Cancer from 2009 to 2011.
