REBUS ECF & CDF Programs


The pilot REBUS ECF & CDF Programs (Research Excellence Boost, University of Sydney) are designed to provide structured and competitive NHMRC applications for ECFs and CDF1s.

Eligible Participants

The 2017 REBUS ECF program is aimed at eligible University of Sydney early career researchers and postgraduate students that intend to submit an application to:
* NHMRC Early Career Fellowship application in 2018 for a 2019 start
* NHMRC Career Development Fellowship 1 application in 2019 for a 2020 start. Participants should hold a Sydney Medical School academic title or be a PhD student close to completion.
The REBUS ECF Program aims are to give participants:
 Support in building track record
 Research capacity building opportunities
 Grant writing assistance
 Structured medium term mentoring towards their ECF/CDF1 application. The program will focus on NHMRC ECF/CDF application processes, but participants will also be encouraged to apply for other suitable opportunities.

Program outline:

The program will include a half day workshop in June (date tba) focusing on skills and requirements for the ECF/CDF applications and options, and the requirements of the mentoring program. Mentors will attend on the day and assist in presenting on various topics and workshop style tasks.

Each participant will be assigned to a mentor who will assist with ongoing application preparation and support in building track record.
Mentors & mentees will be expected to meet approx. every 6-8 weeks
A complete draft application must be ready for review by the mentor:
* For ECF applications in Dec 2017
* For CDF1 applications in Dec 2018

Deadline for expressions of interest: April 28 2017 (Includes 1 pg CV & publications list)

Researchers and mentors will be surveyed periodically to track progress, and evaluate and improve the scheme
