Nepean Cancer Research Biobank
Established in 2014, the biobank contains freshly frozen tumour tissue, formalin fixed paraffin embedded tumour blocks and blood samples within its collection. In addition, an extensive clinical and epidemiological follow up data are obtained whenever possible on each of our participants.

To date 560 participants have provided their informed consent to help us achieve faster advances in cancer research. Their kind donation to participate in the biobank study has seen four highly esteemed research projects receive material from the NCRB. However, a further eighteen projects have expressed interest and this highlights both the need for a robust tissue collection and the high demand for such high quality lung cancer samples in medical research.

The Nepean Cancer Research Biobank (NCRB) is pleased to announce their new electronic FileMaker Pro® database is live!
Since June 2018, Biobank staff have worked with Nepean Blue Mountains LHD ICT and eHealth NSW to set up a host server and engaged an external IT solutions developer to design, build and implement a secure and robust database to house the annotated clinic-pathological and epidemiological data derived from the recruited lung cancer patient cohort.
